Objectives
The ATRA has been established with the principal objectives being to:
- Promote environmentally safe and beneficial recycling of waste tyres
- Help facilitate an industry operating environment, conducive to the generation of a high level of waste tyre recycling and resource recovery, to replace over time, land fill disposal
- Provide the basis of a collective voice for the industry and to promote the common interests of the association’s members, through
- Establishing consensus positions through constructive dialogue and negotiation between Association members
- Effective communication with Government, the public community and other relevant stakeholders
- Determining optimal outcomes in terms of both environmental and economic effectiveness
- Acknowledging and respecting the diverse interests of Association members, but at all times avoiding being subsumed by factional interests
- Providing leadership by pursuing the most strategic outcomes for the industry as a whole
Function
Key activities for the association will comprise:
- Policy/Strategy development
- Representation/Lobbying
- Analysis/Assessment of strategies/proposals developed by other stakeholders or adopted overseas
- Market research and analysis
- Assessment of constraints to industry development (regulatory and unfair practices, eg dumping)
